freedoom!

after 9 months plus of staying with relative without much freedom, finally the verbal contract of staying with them has expired. (between me and my mom)

since internship already begun while Jin's will starts soon, we need to find a place as soon as possible. after some arrangement to view a room, we decided to take it immediately, kind of a desperate act as we did not view few more rooms and compare. rookie on this and kind of got pushed by the agent.

whatever it is, we found the place to move out and enjoy freedom and be totally independent, finally.

lucky for me to work on afternoon shift on second week which gave me enough time to move in in the morning.

all packed and ready to go.

the nearest MRT station is Aljunied, which is just 2 stations away from Bugis. I can take my own sweet time to the work place.

last Sunday we move in some stuff followed by major shifting on Monday. lucky enough for me to work on afternoon shift on second week, so I can get everything done in the morning.

from Aljunied station, walks around 7 to 10 minutes depends on the traffic.

pass by some shops and and resident area through the path way on right side.

cross this main road, thats why is depends on the traffic. either jay cross it or wait for cars to stop.

if you dont know where the hell is Aljunied and think the name is kind of cool. you are wrong!

Aljunied is just the station's name which located at Aljunied Road. The place I am staying is actually located at..

yes, Geylang it is.

the famous red light district area in Singapore. when people ask me where am I staying now, I will reply Aljunied. because if I say Geylang, they will go (o_O") and say "Geylang?" in a suspicious tone as if I am staying with a huge group of prostitutes.

but this place is not as complicated as you think although it is very close to the happening place.

it is more like a condo/ apartment rather than HDB flat. thats why we are paying 800SGD per month!!!

the place got a cool name called Cosy Lodge

its just an 8 storey building with resident code to enter this place. no security though but feel more safe in this area.

although it is near to red light district, but there is where all the good food located according to some locals. especially after sunset

800 rental includes utilities, TV, wardrobe, washing machine, fridge, light cooking, air conditioner and double decker bed!

view from 4 corners in the room. I got a table for my laptop while Jin prefer sitting on the floor. before this is a queen size bed but we insist to have separate bed. so, the landlord bought double decker bed for us.

one thing is the housemates here are not friendly at all. but we dont bother that much. until now, I only exchange conversation with 2 housemates and smile/ nod head with 2 more. Others? not even look me in the eyes. and they are Malaysians!

what about my internship you might ask, or maybe not. but I will tell you anyway.

its my second week in bell service and been working in the afternoon shift for few days before having 2 graveyard shift followed by an off day on Saturday. it was my first time working at late night. it was a whole new kind of experience.

bell service that include duties of room service and housekeeping is something new. I have to send blankets, pillows, extra bed, soaps or even ice to guest room upon request. besides late check in, early check out and sending newspaper. most of the time I just sit at the counter and read book or chit chat with security and technicians.

graveyard shift is like having jet lack because I'll slept whole day. when I off to work, people are going back home. when I come, people just woke up. but enjoying it so far and morning shift again. =D

by the way, soon I have to start my internship report and final project. 20,000 + words for both.

and Jin's internship will be at Clarke Quay instead of Changi. WTF. we could have find a cheaper place to rent at purple line. but who cares, he is the one who got doomed!

week 1

time flies, I have started my internship for a week already!

first day in operator answering calls and get familiar with front office staff and some information. then been placed in bell service for a week and still counting.

due to previously did some bell service back in Golden Sands, it was kind of easy to pick up. just need to adapt their system and procedures which is almost the same. need to wake up at 5am and sleep at 10pm everyday for morning shift, makes me having the same life style like my aunt, finally. but not long because I started afternoon shift as well that leave them no choice but to hand me the house keys. only temporary because I am moving out soon!!!

found a room in Aljunied, 4 stations away from City Hall. nearer, more food available, more freedom but one problem, it is near Geylang. the red district is about few blocks away but been told there is where all the good food are. uncle was kind of worry because of the surrounding, but I am ready to be more independant. although need to stay with Jin. again.

anyway, the staff in hotel were friendly and majority of them are from Malaysia. easy to get along with. not so systematic which means kind of flexible in everything and everyone still learning and trying to improve in every way. enjoying it so far and the best part is getting few bucks tips everyday which are more than enough to cover my expenditure on food each day. still not depend on tips to survive each day due to home cook food and staff meal. but sooner I will need it.

been told soon I will be place in front desk as receptionist, thats mean no more tips for me. ouch! but I am looking forward to it.

feels great again as I am back to serving people at the lobby once again, maybe it is in my blood. am I born to be in this industry? still cant tell. but I am enjoying every moment now...

remaining holiday

this could be my last semester break because after internship, I will be 100% stepping into the working world. Internship is just to get myself ready for this new chapter of my life.

after spending time with friends, it is about spending some quality time with family. what is best to do it than on Mid Autumn Festival?

on this special day, we will be celebrating it at cousin Ellaine's house. It is a steamboat dinner, Mid Autumn Festival celebration and my brother, Edmund the fussy one's 23rd Birthday celebration.
there were only 9 of us but it was a great time! first time trying steamboat with Miso soup. of course it must accompanied with a can of cold beer!!!

we didnt finish up everything and we did not stop from there. after steamboat, we had ice lychee longan water, mango, cheese cake, moon cake and some fine hot chinese tea for dessert!

mango and tea, top right : colour changing tea pot

while not letting our stomach to take a break, we were watching White Chicks. very funny even re-watch it again.

Edmund's 23rd birthday celebration in advance

we all are too old for birthday song singing and stuff that we suppose to do on birthday, so we roughly sand the song and thats it! we were too full anyway.

throughout the whole side, Chun Hsiong cant stop playing with his star-back tortoise

meet "fei po" and "fei zai", I dont know which is which. But just heard from Ellaine that "fei po" pass away 2 days back. R.I.P. fei po...

after cheesecake, we had moon cake.

blueberry mooncake

we had lot of laugh that night and it is something I miss the most. because we seldom meet up. nothing beats family love. =)

Jocelyn was too full until she falls asleep.

Sunday went shopping with mom and brother. got a pair of new leather shoe, a wallet and a belt. did I tell you guys that I wore my previous leather shoe since form 2? it is time, so new shoe for new chapter of life!

at night yumcha with Kelvin and Yanjie. ever since William, Andrew, Win Datt and me studying overseas. the usual yumcha gang is becoming smaller and smaller. It was my second attempt to ask people out yum cha and only 2 turns out. first time only me and Yanjie. lol

Monday went to Sungei Wang support Kar Hui who is performing on stage for charity event organized by University Malaya. after that went "shopping" with Tania while waiting for Lee Keng to finish working. went yum cha at BRJ near Lee Keng and Yanjie's place. again 3 ekor only. but main purpose Lee Keng asked us out to yumcha is because she want her stuff from Singapore.

when I reach home, check mails. got 1 from college asking me to contact HR department of the hotel because my training pass is ready.

next day gave a call and they want me to go back as soon as possible. so, I went to buy my bus ticket before meeting up with Kenix at Midvalley. at that moment, I was kind of lost because it happen too fast. I need to go back on wednesday, thursday get my uniform and settle everything then friday start working. wow!!!

a pic with Kar Hui and Kenix.

me and Kenix just talk crap for hours while walking around Mid Valley and getting anything that I think I need to buy.

later that night yumcha with Sunway gang again because Jin is back to KL! na beh...he come back to KL, I go back to Singapore.

then I bit farewell to them and head home to pack my stuff. basically just throw everything back into my luggage.

there goes my holiday. tomorrow it will be a new chapter of my life. excited!!!

This post is boring because I lost my interest in blogging once again. grown up?? not really, just not in the mood to type a lot and didnt really get any nice pic throuhout all the activities I had during this holiday. When one person got no direction like me who dont know when will my holiday ends, this is what you get.

time to sleep, tomorrow is a brand new start! =D

onedafoo wikent

after staying at home for 1 night, is time to go out and have fun. weekend got booked by my beloved college friends. the so called Sunway gang.

so, we met up at Tania's house at around 6+++pm but only leave the place to pick Charles up close to 8pm. why?? make up lo...girls what. Tania (1 hour), Chin Yi (1 hour), Siew Peng (1 hour)

so 5 of us went to The Curve for dinner and planned to either club at Sanctuary or go back to Tania's house and drink.

The Curve

after the girls walk around at The Street, finally we decided to have our dinner at T.G.I.Friday although its Saturday.

its my first time having a meal in T.G.I.F.

the reason why they have this name is because after Friday, its weekend where everyone will be enjoying a rest. not in the case for hospitality industry eh?? Imagine competitors open restaurants called M.I.L.F. (Man, I Love Friday). Others can be D.I.M. (Damn, Its Monday) or I.A.M. (Its Another Monday). All these only cater for office people. What about those who work in the Tourism and Hospitality industry? We should have one called I.N.M.O.D. (I Need My Off Days)

anyway, we knew it is quite pricey for people like us. although majority of them are working, but we are all still living in a under budget life because we have second round later that definitely cause more than what we paid for the dinner. we were joined by Shao Chian and her man, Zhipin.

Lemonade, Pineapple Sunshine and Orangade

we decided to share our food. so we ordered one 2 course set with additional 3 main course while the couple ordered two 2 course set for themselves. we still pass our food around though.

the starter, Fried Mac & Cheese and Boneless Wings

then is our main course

Cajun Shrimp & Chicken Pasta

Friday's Cheeseburger

Jack Daniel's Glazed Ribs

Garlic Marinated Grilled Lamb Chop

Sizzling Chicken & Shrimp

as we eating half way, Stephanie joined in not for dinner but for our second round.
overall the food is not bad because it has been awhile since I last spent so much on one meal, so I will say Nice!!! for the quality and presentation. not much service though...

after finished reading Waiter Rant, I was eager to give tips but got hold back by them because Malaysia have something called Service Charge.

group pic!!! my shirt bought at Bugis Street. 12.50SGD only. =D

after dinner, Shao Chian and Zhipin went back while we straight head to The Sanctuary for second round.

opened a bottle of Hennessy V.S.O.P.

kind of slow start because they were showing Stoke City vs Man United. still 0-0 when we went in. at 12am, we won 2-0 and the party begins! but oh-o, Siew Peng not feeling well.

so we shifted everything to outside for fresher air. we cant enjoy together because someone need to look after the drinks and stuff. we did went in and dance for awhile, but dont have much space to move around. so, thats it.

since me and Charles are not heavy clubbers, so this is what we saw for most of the time while the girls enjoying inside. yes, included Siew Peng who felt better at the end.

overall we still had fun but I found out that there are more guys than girls in the club. I think most of the guys will be jealous on me and Charles. because 2 guys with 4 girls ma...

after that, we went back to Tania's place for third round without Charles. she got a bottle of Absolut Vanilla. but I didnt drink. then we talk until sunrise, actually most of the time is Chin Yi, Steph and Tania talk. Siew Peng?? sleeping for most of the time.

got some rest and woke up at afternoon. Steph went home and Charles joined us at Pyramid for lunch.

BBQ Plaza

then we walked around when the girls shopping, guys just follow. another practise for our future use.

before we end the outing, we had dessert at Ice Monster. yes, the one that cant spell Malaysia on their menu!!!

very cooling but kind of expensive for a bowl of ice with chopped fruits and ice cream.

it was the weekend I've been missing for months and I know after this, it will be more difficult to happen. really appreciate the times I've spent with my friends. thanks friends!!!
