One

Oh my!!! Today my blog is officially 1 year old!!! oh yeah!!!!

well, actually I started blogging when I was 15 years old where you can check it out on the link "my old blog" (wonder it is still there or not) Back in those days, my blog was just like a daily diary and when I took some time to recap what I've been blogged, I laugh at myself. How childish I was back then, but now I guess my blog is slightly more interesting..right??

at least I am more matured now compared to last time.

although I've been blogging for many years, but this blog is my official blog now where I've put in effort on every entry...and today is his 1 year old!!! I think first person I have to thanks is Kenix, she recommend me to start blogging using blogger instead of X----. I give it a try and she set up the whole blog for me and here I am today. I can do everything on my own!!!

next I would like to thank Joanna, the current blogskin designer. Great job by this 15 years old girl from Singapore. Talented!!! Not to forget my cameras, one already abandoned by me before I head to Penang with a brand new one. But without them, my blog will be dull and boring, so thanks!!!

well, to celebrate this big day. I got no cake since for the past 10 weeks, I have been showing nice photos of cakes. So dont have to do it again and I am not going to spend my money on cake!!!

I decided to show you 2 photos of my lunch for last wednesday and thursday.

Mushroom Sauce Spaghetti with carrots, broccolis and clams.

Sauce was pre-made but I add in mix herbs and parmesan cheese with some seasoning to make it taste different compared to the original one. I saute those clams with chopped onions and garlics before serving with the spaghetti. Vegetables were blanched with boiling water.

Spicy Fussili with minced beef, clams, carrots and broccolis.

It was tomato based sauce but I seasoned with chilli powder, mix herbs, salt and pepper. eventually from sweet/sour, it has become spicy. I mean, really spicy where I sweat non-stop and got running nose after that. Cook the sauce with minced beef and clams, blanched vegetables.

there you go, my lunch!!! But not for today, haha.

Thats all, happy birthday again bloggy. Thanks for letting to me express my feelings, thoughts and accompany me through out this whole year.

well, should go back for some econs....homework not done yet!!!
Final exam in one week time, holiday is coming too!!!

one day further and one day closer...

Big Day

9.30am, my mom woke me up then rush me to take my shower and have my breakfast.
at this point, bro walking in and out from room..mom making up and me still crawling out from my bed...

After getting everything ready...we head to somewhere far away from city.

I have never been to this place before but it it very famous in this country as well as Internationally..not quite but still up to a certain level.

The person who in charge of this place likes black very much...

buildings are black in colour...

chairs, walls, food selling outlets, shops and even people who work here have to wear black...basically everything are in black.

beside that, they also concern on..

the last one would be 'Leadership'

alright, I am too lazy to continue with this...
so yes!! I am in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT)

live band in Plaza

What am I doing here in LUCT on a Saturday morning??
don't worry, I am not here to look around or register for next intake as I have another 1 more week to complete my diploma and I am not interested to study here.

but I am not the only person here who having the same objective...

look at the crowd...

me and my mom come here for this person..

yes, my elder brother..(having his stone-a-like fish and chips)

No, no..this is not his first day of school where he needs us to accompany him to make sure he go in to the right class or not wetting his pants..

today he will be graduating from this place!!! Big day for this man here.

we reached about 11.15am and we have to stone at Plaza until 2pm before entering the hall.
we had our lunch there and brother just telling me all kind of story in this place...
No doubt this place is huge, but I am not interested to walk around and explore. So I just sit there and chat while look around, but all I can see is people in black clothes walking around.

one thing is very interesting, this whole place only have 3 escalators..
and one is watched by a female security guard...

2 escalators in the cafeteria or better known as 'Plaza' for people in here.
and the escalator above is specially and only for the person who in-charge of this place...another 1 is in the office or something while the 3rd one is near the hall and it is for loading heavy stuff..
so, actually there is no escalator for others...

so many walking and stairs climbing are required here.

and even visitors like me have to walk all the way up to the so called 'Hall of Fame' where the function is held.

as you know, the main colour here is black..so dont have to expect much from the hall.
but somehow I find it colourful the moment I look up from where I sit...

thanks to these countries flags..

but it still quite dark in here because of the lighting...

theme for this graduation day...

the word 'global' have to do with those flags...there will be students from 30 countries who are going to graduate today.

after stoning inside the hall for another 30minutes, finally the graduands enter the hall...
and I saw my brother in his Hogward uniform...

'I am graduating today..yeah!!'

after some time...finally all the square heads hats got their seats..about 500 of them.

and all of us have to stand up and welcome the VIP or better known as education council or something..

here is the man that behind all these black things...(the one who walks slightly faster)

about 20+ of them if not mistaken, only 5 of them are useful that day...others are just pure background through out the whole ceremony.

before the ceremony starts, they have 2 video presentations and the emcee purposely highlight that both videos were in-house products..wonder why?? hmmmm

then there is a song presented by this girl from Bangladesh..

majority of us dont know what is she singing because is a Bangladeshi song with something to do with friendships...

so finally it starts...
after all the diploma graduands and it has come to my brother's turn...

there you go, Edmund Low with his Bachelor of Arts for Interior Architecture.
followed by another 200 graduands from other faculties...

then there comes second performance, a chinese guy singing I Believe I can Fly. He said, sing along if you know the words...

so here is 1 funny incident..

on the right side...
we have 500 super high graduands singing along...

and on the left side, we have...

errr....uncles, aunties who think that they are attending an orchestra concert.

second round is individual award giving time...

my bro is up again for Best in Innovative Design. It was his final assignments and got him this award.

followed by a speech from Tan Sri...

and another performance...4 of them singing You Raise Me Up.
Graduands are as high as before but mainly been force by the organisers (just to create the atmosphere) wonder what if they ask the parents to join them??

then the ceremony end with a powerful singing from this lady...

she sang Simply The Best, seriously she is the best on the afternoon..her voice is so powerful that it will make your heart stop. Someone should sign her...haha

as the graduands enjoying with the performer...

on the left side, they still react the same..

so sad...anyway, I sit behind the graduands..so, not that obvious.

during all 4 performances, the VIPs just stone behind the performers...basically 20 over of them just have a grand entrance, stone through out the whole ceremony while only 4 of them giving out certs and 1 giving speech. Then they have a grand exit and have free food.

for all the visitors, there are only 2 climax moments for them. First is when the person they came for get on stage and receive the cert and the second one will be refreshment after the ceremony.

my brother paid 80bucks for his Hogward costume and 2 tickets for us. But all we got for refreshment are pastries while waiting for the graduands to have a group photo in the hall.

it doesn't really matter at all because I am exhausted and want to go home as soon as possible.

But party is not over yet, because we haven't took any photos with the man himself.

and the following are some of the family photos we got on the big day.

the man with the woman behind all his success, our mom!!!

I asked mom after that, why didnt she cry..she say no feeling. aikz~
but I know she is very proud of my brother...at least now left 1 burden only, which is me!!!

the man with his only brother who so willingly to attend the ceremony and become his camera man. (mom took this, not bad huh??)

a family photo!!! love this so much as smiles on our faces are so natural...(wish that dad could be here to share the joy)

after outdoor, we continue photo taking in indoor.

me and my bro again...(mom took this, much better..hehe)

another family photo without any photographer...thanks to me again!! haha

another photo with mom...

then it is hat throwing time, but didnt turn out well...

first shot...something HUGE dropping from the sky~

second shot...kayu with flying hat...

aihhh...forget it and back to normal posing...

Congratulation brother!!!

this is not the end of his journey in LUCT, because he have to work here for 1 year due to the scholarship thingy...good luck bro!!!

College Life Review

Time flies!!! Time flies!!! These words seems to be appearing in my blog very often for the past few entries. Not because I say it for the sake of saying it, but I say it because I really feel it. 2 and half years ago, I stepped out from my secondary school with 5 years of memories, glories, fun times, laughters, crazy moments, tortures, suffers and now here I am, ready to move on to the next level on my life.

semester 1, trip to Saujana Resort, Kuala Lumpur.

2 and half years obviously is shorter than my 11 years school life, but when I look back...it was a long journey and surely I am going to miss this. Every beginning of new semesters when we got our scheme of work, we will mourn and think that 'exam week' is more difficult to reach than flying to the moon. But as times goes by, assignments after assignments, reports after reports and those dateline is killing us where we want the time to stop moving for just a short while so we can complete our works. (mainly is because doing last minute works) Not to mentioned that almost every assignments and report, I stayed up for whole night and complete them few hours before handing up.

semester 2, CKO final exam with Chef Andy

Every time after rushing each assignments and give ourselves the maximum pressure, we will surely say "next assignment don't do last minute work lo, I must finish it earlier...bla bla bla"

Then another last minute work, and another and another...

Every time when we start our new semester, one of us will say
"this semester I am not going to do last minute work anymore"

others will say "ya, me too..cannot every sem like that"

But unfortunately, our hardworking cells can't live too long, they can't even hold on until we get our first assignment. So same story goes on and on again until semester 7!!! We never change!!!

semester 3, dinner service

We will only feel the pressure about 1 or 2 weeks before the dateline and only will start moving our muscles and squeezing our brain juice by then. We can't take the pressure and kept mourning, spam each other on MSN, sharing own assignment with others (especially those hardworking one), everyone's MSN nickname/ personal message must be related to the latest assignment.

While doing assignments, we will also looking forward to who change their nickname to "yeah!! finally!!!" or "finish!!!".

Then the following conversation will happen

Lei See: "wah, so fast!!! good la you..."

Gau Dim: "no la, I simply do only..."

Lei See: "haiyoo, finish already ma good lo.." (before GauDim want to reply)
" eh, can send over ? want to see how you do this particular part" (actually is whole assignment)

Gau Dim: "I really don't know how to do one..."

Lei Sei: "don't like that la..friends must help friends ma..."
(after about 10 minutes of begging and refusing)

Gau Dim:" haiyerr...okla..."

Lei Sei:" wah, thank you!!! you are so kind"

(Lei See = lazy, gau dim in cantonese means finish or done)

For year one, my Gau Dim will normally be Stephanie or Tania because not close with other group. Then slowly I have more choices, I add in Chin Yi, Desmond and Lynn D in year two for tougher assignments.

**Don't think that I always demand, sometimes I am supplier too...

Semester 4, sausages holiday at Genting

Beside paper work, even practical we also like to do last minute work. Still remember in semester 3, during dinner service. We took our own sweet time the whole afternoon and end up rushing to get change into our costume 30minutes before service starts. For buffet service, many of us stay in college until 11pm just to finish building the buffet booth and decorations. Next day early in the morning, we continue hammering until about 1 hour before buffet service start. (last minute to the max)

All these while, we can't really cope with the pressure but somehow we enjoy the pressure. We work our ass out in last minute work and the result satisfied all of us. It feels even better after completing something under high pressure rather than finish it earlier. This is one bad example to follow, so young folks out there. DO NOT FOLLOW our footsteps. (even though in some occasion we did extremely well and others were just ok or good)

semester 5, party before going for training.

In this 2 and half years, I have learned a lot. Of course academically and lot more for my life. No doubt education is the main purpose I further my study but at the same time I am learning how to be a better person through out the whole journey. One thing I remember the most which taught by Chef Busky in Personal Development Skill 2, he said if you are very angry at someone, in order to not worsen the situation, you keep quiet and walk away. Give yourself some time to cool down and solve it rationally rather than emotionally.

That is why I always keep quiet now when someone throw anger at me. Back to my secondary school time, I will just burst out and start shouting at their face. Even though sometimes I really could not take it and release my anger back to them, but it rarely happen now a days.

When others giving you some hard time, don't give up but go out and prove to them you can handle them. This happen lot when it comes to group assignments where members did not cooperate and give you shit work which you have to edit all over again or just re-do the whole damn thing all by yourself again. But after completing it, you are more matured compare to them!

semester 6, SWE training at Golden Sands Resort, Penang. (with Bell Captain, Ramadhan)

Industrial training, something that kept haunting us at the beginning of semester 4 and it became even scarier at the end of semester 4 where we need to decide where to go. But every thing just going to our way and end of semester 5, the most excited semester is ahead of us. We didn't know what will happen but only suffer that comes to our mind. Again, it turns out fun, fun and more fun!!! Maybe because is the place we chose, the people over there are just so nice!!! Immediately we feel that we are part of them and things goes quite smooth. 5 months without mom's nagging, total freedom. Do whatever you want but at the same time, have to make sure not to get into trouble. Discipline is very important here, glad that I've made it without putting myself into trouble. 5 months later, it has all become memory and I've learn more because of the independent life I have.

It was just a brief introduction to us about how would working industry looks like. I am sure it won't be that easy in the future when we really step into the working world.

semester 7, final Deli service with Mr.Teddy.

look at that!!! 7 semesters just finish like that!!! damn fast right??

Besides studies, friends is another key element here. Through out these 7 semesters, I've got to know lots of friends. But not all are able to move along with us and finish this journey with us. From semester 1, 40+ hospitality students to semester 7, 20+ of us. The remaining are those that really go through the climax of hard times together and really glad that we made it so far. it is not easy at all along the way where quarrels, argues but not to forget...the laughter we have.

Not just that, in between I also get to know more friends during my training. Even just that few months, I can know that they are a bunch of great people. With this, I have widen my network which I think will only benefits my future.

there goes my 7 semesters review.

well, I will be going to the next chapter of my life. Seriously I have no idea where am I heading to but at least I have my own objectives now which I will do my best to achieve it. Wait for me!!!

final exam in 1 week time.

final deli service

12 weeks ago, I have switched my mind back to study mode after 5 months staying away from classes, lecturers, notes, traffic jam and most of all...study!!!

even though not fully switched, but at least 60% I guess...anyhow, after 1 week of preparation and get used to the environment once again, 10 of us chosen Deli operation instead of Integrated Marketing Management (IMM) or International Tourism Marketing (ITM).

Advantages of choosing Deli operation are:
1. there will be no exam during exam week but marks will be given based on weekly performance.
2. there are only 10 operations and we will end 1 week earlier compared to others.
3. even though we have Restaurant Business Operation class, but as what I said, no exam.
4. there are only 10 of us, so lecturer know us well and marks will be given properly. (its all based on our strengths and weaknesses)
5. we learn how to fully operates a small restaurant and also small kitchen (all by ourselves)
6. we have free meal on every friday!!

Disadvantage is we have to go to college everyday but others only until thursday.

Anyway, who cares about the pros and cons about choosing Deli. The only thing that I concern is I really enjoy it!!!

from thinking what theme we should have to what menu we should cook...but it all ends in a blink of eyes. I mean, crap!!! This is our last Deli operation!!!!

To conclude this wonderful experience and whole 10 weeks of service, JJ as the supervisor decided to have the theme, Original Deli. Well, it seems like very meaningful but 1 of the reasons behind it is we are too lazy to think of another theme and do deco. (shhhh) But come on, it is a brilliant idea to sum it up right?

this is what I meant by small kitchen, the preparation kitchen is bigger than our production kitchen.

Instead of having a new menu, the kitchen side also decided to have the high selling dish in the past 9 weeks.

Introducing, Menu of the Day

Vietnamese Soup aka Anna's soup. But this time cook by Chin Yi with guides from Anna herself.

Roast Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich. Used to prepared by me with smoked cajun chicken but this time by Omer.

Tomato and Spinach Quiche, prepared by Kok Foong. Vegetarian is needed in the menu, but it always the least welcome dish.

Chicken Meatballs Fussili by Akungee. Remember JJ's balls meatballs spaghetti? Its almost the same, just they change the pasta.

Mango Cheesecake by our dessert master, Desmond. Cake is totally his specialty, no doubt.
Dont believe me?? How about this??

Chocolate Banana Cake with mud cake's body. Cool eh? Another Desmond's masterpiece dessert. The cake is so nice that I only need to take 1 photo and thats it.

the whole service was not bad and actually quite smooth...but we were busy until 1.15pm only, its like 45minutes before closing. This is all because exam weeks and many students were not in the college.

the service team with checked shirts...

group photo without camera man(few seconds before this pic, I knocked my left knee on the floor..ouch!!)

after lunch, more fun time in Deli as this is our last time here.

another group pic without camera man...haha

its been fun working with you guys, although we do face some hard time during operation and quarrel for some reasons. But the end result will wipe off all the unwanted hard feelings. If I did anything wrong thats upset you guys, I am sorry for that. We all form a good team even though we are the smallest group, but our performance does the talking. Thanks again for everything and may success ahead of each and everyone of us.

cheers!!! (personally like this pic a lot..)

a group pic with our 'manager', Mr. Teddy. (thanks for everything sir)

last debriefing and feedback with Mr. Teddy...(ignore Charles)

beside thank you, still have to say thanks once again to those who turn up and support us for the past 10 weeks. Sorry if our service and food is not up to the standard you expected but we are improving from time to time. Sorry for all the inconvenient but thanks very much for not giving up on us and give us chance to improve ourselves. Without you all, we are nothing. Thank you!!!

by the time we break through all these obstacles in front of us, we will reach our dream..there and then, happiness will be with us...

It is about an end of another chapter in my life, where will I go next? Is my destiny in my own hand or in someone else hand?? Only time will tell...and time flies!!! So my destiny is on the way...

counting down : 2 weeks to final exam...

notice that imeem had changed their playlist into 1 big junk, anyone can recommend me something smaller and more suitable for my blog?? I need a change because it spoil my blogskin.
