no more cooking

Before I really begin this entry, I have to announce that there were no Deli service this week.

"WHAT?? do you mean there will be no food pics this week???"

no, no no no. Please stay calm. No deli service doesnt mean there will be no food pic for you. But instead of normal food pic, I will be giving you some VIP food pic. (at this point, you can either choose to scroll down immediately to see those pics or read the whole damn thing before looking at those pic)

well, the reason why I am going to show you some VIP food pic because we did something special this week. The school canceled off the deli service and all the deli students are in this special function whereby one of the VIPs is the owner of the places we are cooking, serving, studying, eating, lepaking....etc etc. Ya, the chairman of Sunway Group, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah.

there will only be 16 VIPs which is the only people we are going to serve. This means we are only serving VIPs!!! Total 7 of us plus 4 semester 1 juniors and 4 chefs in the kitchen side. Where else in the service side, 3 of us and 2 lecturers. Compared to our deli service, 5 in kitchen, 5 in service, serving 60 pax. (this you can see how important are the guests)

by the way, today is actually my group last kitchen practical. So it is kind of cool to round up our semester 7 by participating in this special function.

unfortunately, Jin was in the service, so it is a bit cacated.

well, it is a bit like coming back home where 4 semesters ago we were yelling and shouting in the production kitchen, preparing 12 dishes week in week out. Semester 3 was the best semester we've ever had. It was the only short semester we have but every week we are in the kitchen and in the restaurant.

ahh...those days~ (semester 3 kitchen final exam, dinner service)

after many weeks of relaxing service in deli, finally we got the taste of real service again. Got screwed by chefs all along the operation which makes us laugh at the end. Miss those scolding and purposely act blur to regain them is what chef Siew Lee said. ( the 1 in front of everyone in the group pic above) She is still the best, our mummy.

ok, before service. We are so damn busy, but we still managed to enjoy ourself.

they even invited a band to perform for those VIPs...(they practicing)

and a bunch of jakun watching them before got our asses kick in the kicthen.

ok, time to work!!!

pre-arrange starter...(preparing smoke makerel salad)

pre-arrange dessert (arranging fruit platter)

how about sample?? alright, here you go.

Nature's Perfect. Combination of smoked makerel salad and cream of brocolli soup.

Cajun Style Roast Chicken. Authentic roasted chicken served with berny potatoes, sauted vege and topped with mushroom sauce.

Braised Lamb. Slices of lambs in brown sauce accompanied with pilaf rice and sauted vege.

Penne Arabiata. Panne sauted with green and yellow peppers and tomato coulee with a dash of chilli flakes. (the most simple dish of the day because it is vegetarian)

Sunway's Toast. A smooth mouth watering marble cheese cake and a refreshing fruit platter.

by the way, after the whole operation. We still dont know which 1 is Tan Sri. Funny right?? after 2 years plus studying here, we never see his face beside his huge portraits in the library. But who really cares how he look like. But we just want to see who is that successful man behind all these building and ofcourse this golden land named Bandar Sunway.

the group that suppose to be in service this week, end up 3 in kitchen and 2 in service. cacated as well.

as usual, after service. Its lunch time!!!

with all the stoves around and those extra ingredients they order only for this function. We turn them into our lunch!!!

end of service, no more kitchen for me...time to keep my utensil kits, my kitchen uniform and my safety shoes...

next week will be our last deli service...damn, I hate to repeat this but I have to say it again. TIME REALLY FLIES!!!!

heavy rain on 1 morning...I enjoy morning rain alot, it clears my mind but make me lazy as well. Wish I could just sleep through the day, but life must go on and I am ready to take every challenge that comes to me. Hope you will do the same as well.
