final deli service

12 weeks ago, I have switched my mind back to study mode after 5 months staying away from classes, lecturers, notes, traffic jam and most of all...study!!!

even though not fully switched, but at least 60% I guess...anyhow, after 1 week of preparation and get used to the environment once again, 10 of us chosen Deli operation instead of Integrated Marketing Management (IMM) or International Tourism Marketing (ITM).

Advantages of choosing Deli operation are:
1. there will be no exam during exam week but marks will be given based on weekly performance.
2. there are only 10 operations and we will end 1 week earlier compared to others.
3. even though we have Restaurant Business Operation class, but as what I said, no exam.
4. there are only 10 of us, so lecturer know us well and marks will be given properly. (its all based on our strengths and weaknesses)
5. we learn how to fully operates a small restaurant and also small kitchen (all by ourselves)
6. we have free meal on every friday!!

Disadvantage is we have to go to college everyday but others only until thursday.

Anyway, who cares about the pros and cons about choosing Deli. The only thing that I concern is I really enjoy it!!!

from thinking what theme we should have to what menu we should cook...but it all ends in a blink of eyes. I mean, crap!!! This is our last Deli operation!!!!

To conclude this wonderful experience and whole 10 weeks of service, JJ as the supervisor decided to have the theme, Original Deli. Well, it seems like very meaningful but 1 of the reasons behind it is we are too lazy to think of another theme and do deco. (shhhh) But come on, it is a brilliant idea to sum it up right?

this is what I meant by small kitchen, the preparation kitchen is bigger than our production kitchen.

Instead of having a new menu, the kitchen side also decided to have the high selling dish in the past 9 weeks.

Introducing, Menu of the Day

Vietnamese Soup aka Anna's soup. But this time cook by Chin Yi with guides from Anna herself.

Roast Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich. Used to prepared by me with smoked cajun chicken but this time by Omer.

Tomato and Spinach Quiche, prepared by Kok Foong. Vegetarian is needed in the menu, but it always the least welcome dish.

Chicken Meatballs Fussili by Akungee. Remember JJ's balls meatballs spaghetti? Its almost the same, just they change the pasta.

Mango Cheesecake by our dessert master, Desmond. Cake is totally his specialty, no doubt.
Dont believe me?? How about this??

Chocolate Banana Cake with mud cake's body. Cool eh? Another Desmond's masterpiece dessert. The cake is so nice that I only need to take 1 photo and thats it.

the whole service was not bad and actually quite smooth...but we were busy until 1.15pm only, its like 45minutes before closing. This is all because exam weeks and many students were not in the college.

the service team with checked shirts...

group photo without camera man(few seconds before this pic, I knocked my left knee on the floor..ouch!!)

after lunch, more fun time in Deli as this is our last time here.

another group pic without camera man...haha

its been fun working with you guys, although we do face some hard time during operation and quarrel for some reasons. But the end result will wipe off all the unwanted hard feelings. If I did anything wrong thats upset you guys, I am sorry for that. We all form a good team even though we are the smallest group, but our performance does the talking. Thanks again for everything and may success ahead of each and everyone of us.

cheers!!! (personally like this pic a lot..)

a group pic with our 'manager', Mr. Teddy. (thanks for everything sir)

last debriefing and feedback with Mr. Teddy...(ignore Charles)

beside thank you, still have to say thanks once again to those who turn up and support us for the past 10 weeks. Sorry if our service and food is not up to the standard you expected but we are improving from time to time. Sorry for all the inconvenient but thanks very much for not giving up on us and give us chance to improve ourselves. Without you all, we are nothing. Thank you!!!

by the time we break through all these obstacles in front of us, we will reach our dream..there and then, happiness will be with us...

It is about an end of another chapter in my life, where will I go next? Is my destiny in my own hand or in someone else hand?? Only time will tell...and time flies!!! So my destiny is on the way...

counting down : 2 weeks to final exam...

notice that imeem had changed their playlist into 1 big junk, anyone can recommend me something smaller and more suitable for my blog?? I need a change because it spoil my blogskin.

no more cooking

Before I really begin this entry, I have to announce that there were no Deli service this week.

"WHAT?? do you mean there will be no food pics this week???"

no, no no no. Please stay calm. No deli service doesnt mean there will be no food pic for you. But instead of normal food pic, I will be giving you some VIP food pic. (at this point, you can either choose to scroll down immediately to see those pics or read the whole damn thing before looking at those pic)

well, the reason why I am going to show you some VIP food pic because we did something special this week. The school canceled off the deli service and all the deli students are in this special function whereby one of the VIPs is the owner of the places we are cooking, serving, studying, eating, lepaking....etc etc. Ya, the chairman of Sunway Group, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah.

there will only be 16 VIPs which is the only people we are going to serve. This means we are only serving VIPs!!! Total 7 of us plus 4 semester 1 juniors and 4 chefs in the kitchen side. Where else in the service side, 3 of us and 2 lecturers. Compared to our deli service, 5 in kitchen, 5 in service, serving 60 pax. (this you can see how important are the guests)

by the way, today is actually my group last kitchen practical. So it is kind of cool to round up our semester 7 by participating in this special function.

unfortunately, Jin was in the service, so it is a bit cacated.

well, it is a bit like coming back home where 4 semesters ago we were yelling and shouting in the production kitchen, preparing 12 dishes week in week out. Semester 3 was the best semester we've ever had. It was the only short semester we have but every week we are in the kitchen and in the restaurant.

ahh...those days~ (semester 3 kitchen final exam, dinner service)

after many weeks of relaxing service in deli, finally we got the taste of real service again. Got screwed by chefs all along the operation which makes us laugh at the end. Miss those scolding and purposely act blur to regain them is what chef Siew Lee said. ( the 1 in front of everyone in the group pic above) She is still the best, our mummy.

ok, before service. We are so damn busy, but we still managed to enjoy ourself.

they even invited a band to perform for those VIPs...(they practicing)

and a bunch of jakun watching them before got our asses kick in the kicthen.

ok, time to work!!!

pre-arrange starter...(preparing smoke makerel salad)

pre-arrange dessert (arranging fruit platter)

how about sample?? alright, here you go.

Nature's Perfect. Combination of smoked makerel salad and cream of brocolli soup.

Cajun Style Roast Chicken. Authentic roasted chicken served with berny potatoes, sauted vege and topped with mushroom sauce.

Braised Lamb. Slices of lambs in brown sauce accompanied with pilaf rice and sauted vege.

Penne Arabiata. Panne sauted with green and yellow peppers and tomato coulee with a dash of chilli flakes. (the most simple dish of the day because it is vegetarian)

Sunway's Toast. A smooth mouth watering marble cheese cake and a refreshing fruit platter.

by the way, after the whole operation. We still dont know which 1 is Tan Sri. Funny right?? after 2 years plus studying here, we never see his face beside his huge portraits in the library. But who really cares how he look like. But we just want to see who is that successful man behind all these building and ofcourse this golden land named Bandar Sunway.

the group that suppose to be in service this week, end up 3 in kitchen and 2 in service. cacated as well.

as usual, after service. Its lunch time!!!

with all the stoves around and those extra ingredients they order only for this function. We turn them into our lunch!!!

end of service, no more kitchen for me...time to keep my utensil kits, my kitchen uniform and my safety shoes...

next week will be our last deli service...damn, I hate to repeat this but I have to say it again. TIME REALLY FLIES!!!!

heavy rain on 1 morning...I enjoy morning rain alot, it clears my mind but make me lazy as well. Wish I could just sleep through the day, but life must go on and I am ready to take every challenge that comes to me. Hope you will do the same as well.

movie marathon

It has been awhile since I was updated with the latest movies due to financial crisis and price increasing on basic needs. My last movie watching in cinema was Iron Man.

well, basically I was so outdated because most of them who watch movie stays in Sunway area and seriously I got no mood to spend money on watching movies. I rather spend my time at home sitting in front of computer and online...

oh wait...I can do something with the internet connection I have. hmmmmmm~

ok, as you all should know. As long as our beloved streamyx is stable...we can do many things online. One of them is watch movies online. You have crunchyroll, youtube...bla bla bla and etc

beside that, as a cost saving internet user like me...you can actually 'rent' these movies from the internet. Where they are stated 'To-rrent' (double R with reason) on those movies.

I 'rent' a few movies on the week days and week before. Finally I have the intention to watch them and here it go...my home alone movie marathon~

P.S. I Love You - a very beautiful romance movie starring Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank. It is about a happily married couple been separated with the death of the husband,Gerry and eventually Holly, the wife is depress with the lost of her love one. But miracle happen when she starts receiving letters from her husband which guide her how to move on with her life without him around.
I 'rent' this movie and watched it on Thursday

ps I Love You~

Run Papa Run - a very entertaining family movie directed by Sylvia Chang or better known as Zhang Ai Jia. Louis Khoo and Rene Liu has worked together before in 'Happy Birthday' and here is their second movie. A very unique HK movie which I personally like it very much.

It is about a gangster head played by Khoo named Lee Tin-Yun who marry Mable (Rene) on the minute she is giving birth to their daughter, Lee Tian-Yi. Then is it how a gangster try to change himself and give his family a normal life.
I chunchyroll it on Friday night.

Over Her Dead Body - a comedy romance movie starring Eva Longoria Parker, Paul Ruud and Lake Bell. It started when Kate (Eva) and Henry (Paul) who is about to get married before Kate was killed by an ice sculpture on her wedding day. Henry was depressed and went to meet psychic, Ashley (Lake) who claimed that she can talk to spirit. Somehow they fell in love and Kate came back to stop Ashley from doing so by disturbing her daily life.

an USA movies website has just voted this as the worst movie in first half of the year.haha
I 'rent' it and watched on Saturday afternoon.

Be Kind Rewind - a comedy, sci-fi movie starring Jack Black and Mos Def. It is about Jerry (Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend, Mike 's(Def) video store. In order to satisfy the store's most loyal renter, an aging woman with signs of dementia, the two men set out to remake the lost films. Eventually people living in that area love their remake productions and they make more movies after that.

Been voted as 3rd worst movie in first half of the year by an USA movies website but I personally think it is a good movie.
I 'rent' and watch it on Saturday late night.

Superhero Movie - a comedy starring Drake Bell, Sara Paxton and Christopher McDonald. Actually there are 1 big bunch of actors/actresses in this movie but most of them just played a small part in the movie. Basically it is a combination of several movies and characters which add in lameness to make it funny.

Just watch it and laugh your ass out.
I 'rent' it and watched on Sunday morning.

Tentang Cinta or About Love - a romance movie from Indonesia starring Sheila Marcia,Vino G. Bastian and Hayria Faturrahman. It all happen after Sheren's (Marcia) fiancee Ray died because of some decease. Then she met Evan (Bastian) and eventually they fell in love. But in between Evan's ex Audy (Faturrahman) appear again and she got the same decease as Ray which is why she left Evan and said she fell in love with another guy. But actually she just dont want him to see she suffer. There it goes, conflict between 3 persons.

ps: thanks for recommending..hehe
"cinta itu bukan buta, iatu memahami"(love is not blind, its understanding)
a line from the movie...

I youtube it on Sunday afternoon, 12 parts in total with no subtitle...

Kung Fu Panda - an animated comedy, action, family movie with the sounds of Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen and many more...I bet most of you had watch this, so I dont really need to explain what it is all about...

1 line caught my attention when Master Oogway told Po the Panda
"yesterday is history, tomorrow is mistery and today is a gift, that is why it calls present"
meaningful phrase...

I 'rent' and watched it on Sunday evening...

so thats it, my 7 movies in 4 days movie marathon. Thanks to technology and streamyx.
more movie marathon to come...but dont think I will blog it out..

3 more weeks to final exam..time really flies!!!

wish I could watch movies with you~

Music Deli

Another week, yet another Deli service...well, it's Friday already. Every Friday marked the end of another week. Time flies, just 3 more Deli services and thats it!! 1 month later will be my final exam, as in the very final Final Exam for this diploma. No more after this unless I further my studies. Well, that is not the point..what I am trying to say is, TIME REALLY FLIES!!!!

From that 5 months training to ending of semester 7, many things happen in between but it seems like just happened yesterday (everything still clear in my mind and will always be...)

Alright, back to the Deli service. This week I am in the service team again and we decided to have the theme, MUSIC~

freaking old singer/ band posters from some old entertainment magazine found at home

Anna's master pieces (corridor's deco)...she is the Supervisor of the Day

another Anna's hard work (food tags)

and our ULTIMATE CENTER PIECE..never had so much stuff here before. thanks for those who contributed!!

This week was very similar to previous week where we are short of man power again. Not on the service side, but the kitchen side...

The remaining warriors...see how sad they are?? (pity them to the max)

But we work as a team!!! Due to I am the bartender today and seriously got nothing much to do, so I am also the stand-in Chef of the Day..muahahhaa!!! (salute me!!! salute me!!!)

alright, I know you all will be getting ready all the rotten eggs for me...so in order to distract your attention towards me..I introduce you Menu of the Day...

Desmond's Potato Chicken Soup...looks damn clear and tasteless, but the taste is there.

Chin Yi's Deli's Special Sandwich...dont know what so special, but it is special. But person in-charge mc today (1 out)

Akungee's Cheesy Chicken Quiche...he MIA right before operation due to some interview (2 out)

Omer's Seafood Carbonara...the most expensive pasta ever sold in Deli. But still damn worth it compared to Pink (a poor service restaurant beside my college)

Kok Foong's Apple Cheesecake...with lemon taste apple slice. lol

Desmond's Chocolate Brownies...the extremely sweet dessert we have ever served.

We have marked up the price due to the increasing of production cost and eventually we got the highest sales so far!! Break record again..ha-ha-ha (but also not go into our pocket, so happy for what??)

anyway, after a looooong day...its lunch time!!!

look at the food, we even did trolley sales to clear off most of them before putting them into our stomach.

but before that...
group pic!!!!

enough playing already...time to eat~

what a day...here comes another weekend, but nothing much will happen.

took this just now from my room, look at the traffic. Despite after price of fuel increased, traffic jam still happen in a small town like Cahaya...weird huh??

anyway, thats all for now...

ps: week after week, counting down to that special day...
