Pi Lang Trip 2009

Is always great to go to some place with a bunch of friends, after al most more than 1 month of planning and meeting, finally the day had come.

A trip to Penang. We departed at 6.30am from Charles' place on Friday with 2 Myvi and yes, I am driving!!! 3 on each car. Kok Foong, Desmond, Siew Peng, Charles, Jin and me from KL and picking up Chin Yi at Juru.

as we were on our way to Gopeng, we got a shocking news that King of Pop Michael Jackson had left us. Kind of mix feeling at that moment, felt sad but is our holiday trip at the same time. Listening to his songs played by all the radio stations we can get is what we did for the next few hours on the high way.

Before that, we will drop by Lawan Kuda, Gopeng. Desmond's home town for breakfast.

Fight Horse's dog...

Fight Horse's breakfast...
Desmond said all these are man made, so all are original. What is best to have a cup of fresh brewed coffee in the morning??

the from KL gang...

after re-charged with breakfast and coffee...off we go to Penang!!!

somewhere in Gopeng...

after almost 2 hours of driving, finally we reach Juru but ms. Heng still at home and will took some time for her to reach Juru from Kulim.

so we....

McD is the best place to hang out...

we waited for almost 2 hours again before ms. Heng arrived in the most VIP manner. She drove another silver Myvi. 3 silver Myvi heading to Penang?? 3 cars for 7 persons???

neh...she pass the car to her sis and hop on to Foong's car. Then off we go!!!

Pee-Leng Kiu~ (dont try this if you got no good skills on driving and photo taking)

all of us were not that hungry but still stop by to have a quick lunch because we were so damn tired. While looking for place to have our lunch, me, Charles and Jin were spamming MJ's songs in my car. Like what some said, all the radio stations had became MJ fm for that day.

New World Park...
the Hokkien Mee aka Prawn mee I ordered got no prawns at all but shrimps (ha mai)...failed!

next, is check in time. We booked D'Feringgi at Batu Feringgi. Rm580, 2 rooms, 2 nights, 2 queen size bed with a shared bathroom. Kind of not worth it but is one of the best we could find.

rooms and around the resort...

after some rest, we were off to Gurney Plaza for...

the most exciting movie of the week, the long waited sequel after 2 years and one of the bext movies for year 2009. Yes, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

the entire movie is awesome, wanted to watch it again and again to see how do they really make the every fighting scenes so real.

after movie, is time for dinner. where else to have dinner when you are at Gurney??

Gurney Drive of course!!!

the common food we must order in Penang

then we bought a couple of beers and chill out at our place with cards and of course, MJ's songs on TV...

here is a little tribute I did for MJ...

laugh if you want to, I admit I was slightly drunk that time. Besides moon walk, grab nutsacks and 45 degrees stand, I've noticed that most of the so called lame dance move we saw back in those days, can be seen in MJ's mv.

next morning, we woke up at 8am for breakfast. While others are getting ready, 4 of us went down to have a light breakfast since it comes with our rooms. Nothing much to eat but fried rice, sausages, nuggets, cereals and eggs.

after the 2 ladies get ready, we went to around Jalan Pulau Tikus to look for the famous dim sum according to Jin. The only landmark he know is KDU Penang. One kind lady lead us to around that area and gave us the directions. But we kind of lost and just as Jin said, "screw it and go eat something else" KDU Penang is on our left hand side.

a place which combines cart service and self service. One of the biggest dim sum place I've ever seen.

so, we are here for breakfast!!!

group pic with JJ as the teapot since he said his soul is with us

next, Queensbay Mall for Transformers Exhibition and Haagen-Dazs.

all the toys collections from Transformers are there.
notice the middle pic? in the movie, we saw robots with balls. it clearly shows that Optimus Prime have a small penis...

Haagen-Dazs time (edited by Chin Yi)

then is lunch time although most of us still filled with dim sum, so we head to Jalan Pinang for cendol and ice kacang.

some ancient buildings in Jalan Pinang...

and also famous char kuey teow and laksa...

all of us were kind of tired cause lack of sleep, so we went back to rest until evening before heading to the beach for some water sports activities.

haze = no nice sun set

RM 40 per person for Jetski and Banana Boat. But got conned cause they promise 20 minutes on jetski but only 15 minutes and we didnt fell into the sea from Banana boat at all. Is fun though...

after wash up, before dinner. Me and Jin went back to Golden Sand to meet up with Ann. She showed us the newly renovated rooms. Really nice but sadly not many staff remember us, it has been a year already.

then we went to Long Beach for dinner before head for clubbing as been planned by Chin Yi. But we left our place around 11pm and reach there around 12am due to 2 ladies spent hours to make up. It was weekend, so as expected. We cant get into any club and end up drinking at one of the pub around the area.

ordered a beer tower and play cards..
spotted quite a lot of hot chicks but no chance to enjoy fully with alcohol. Still fun though...

we went back around 3am and had burger for supper then sleep at around 4 or 5am.

didnt really have enough sleep and woke up around 10am then start to clear up and pack our stuff.

after check out. went to Pastamania in Gurney Plaza for lunch.

food and friends (edited by Chin Yi)

and we left Penang at around 3pm. Surprisingly I did not have any coffee and I managed to drove all the way back to KL without stopping for rest. Reach KL around 6.30pm. RECORD BREAKING!!!

I really enjoy this trip cause we laugh for the past 3 days and nights. Jokes around and have fun with friends is what I lack of in Singapore. Kind of sad cause we left Chin Yi at Butterworth. Hope to have same kind of trip again in the future. Maybe to somewhere further, but dont know when only can collect more people for trip.

thanks friends for this fun Penang trip!!!

hazy hiking

On Monday night, me meet up with the usual yum cha gang and as usual, imcomplete due to some still at oversea. June and July seems like a great months as most of us will be in KL. So, meet up with Yanjie, Kelvin and William at Steven's to yum cha and had naan!!!

Then we go for second round at William's place with some beers and snacks and of course, cards.

We were accompanied by William's bitch named Joey. She looks like Marley and behave like Marley, she ran around us for more than 2 hours...non stop!!!

We slept at around 4am and woke up at 6am to go for hiking at Broga, Semenyih. Before that, we picked up April who decided to join us before her class.

Supposingly to go there for sunrise, but we failed plus the haze is quite serious in the morning.

Then we came to this palm tree plantation place at Semenyih.
Some where that we wont know there is a place for hiking if Yanjie didnt bring us here.

The place is quite quiet actually maybe because of the haze or it is Tuesday morning...
the entire path is rather smooth and not really challenging. we can barely just walk all the way up, just some part is kind of sandy and slippery from time to time.

thats April who start complaining before we reach the first peak. But still managed to pose for photo =_="

here we are, on our way to the first peak.

Broga is believed to be derived from name Buragas, a mythical beast tha live in forest. But for me, it sounds like some Brazillian footballer.

Kelvin sneaking into the weeds

The hill is very unique because it is located right at the border between Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

view from first peak...

another view from first peak...

Quite western-feel if you ask me, feel like we are at another country when we reach the first peak. Just a little draw back due to the haze. If these scenaries with blue sky, it will be perfect!!!

But the boy who came back from Manchester likes the haze, maybe he is sick of fresh air in England. (that thing William is holding is made by April, its called Hama beads)

Standing in front of second peak, the smiley face hill (if you can see, its right behind me)
cant see?? here is a better view

smiley face...err~ alright, abit cacated smiley face.

Kelvin showing his yeng-ness

4 posers...ignore Yanjie, a pose requested by photographer.

3 statues with April. lol

New Zealand!!!
those big rocks look like cows from here...

The entire Broga is surrounded by weeds, which westernise the whole place even more
at this point it seems like going to rain, but we decided to continue

time to go for second peak

from second peak...

third peak from second peak

Yanjie on big rock, we actually asked him to jump but is too dangerous...

April promoting her hama beads...

group photo...
We met a big group of students from Serdang while on our way up, they came much earlier than us and got a group photo with their camera. Dont really bother, just having fun because we are the first people they met and so are they to us.

Then there is a couple behind us and we communicated via 'thousand mile pass sound', from one peak to another peak.

There are few more peaks according to Yanjie, but we are too tired to continue.

So, we leave a mark on 2nd peak to tell everyone we were there before. If you see this rock, is done by me. (nonsense)

After breaking the rock, we leave second peak...

and the sun finally managed to break through the haze, not fully though

Result from William's phone, the route not really difficult as you can see and its only 3.21 km...even shorter than MBSSKL cross country.

We took 1 hour to hike and 1 hour for relaxing (according to my camera timing and William's phone)
We spend quite some time at peak 1 and 2 but going back down is much faster and easier.

After that, we went to Kajang for brunch

Kee V's pepper soup restaurant, something famous in Kajang beside satay.

Pepper soup hand tear Pan Mee
the pan mee is like rubber and can only taste pepper ginger from the soup. failed!!!

Pepper soup Yee Mee
same taste with the first, cause the soup is their selling point. So, beside pepper ginger, still pepper ginger...

Fire Blast Meat...
dried chillies, onions, chilli padi = freaking SPICY!!!

Rm29.50 for 5 of us. So so lah...cause we were very hungry but the pepperishness/ spiciness minimise our appetite.

It has been awhile since I have so much laughter, thanks guys. Hopefully there are more to come on my remaining holiday.

KL sunset on 23rd June...haze~

next stop, Ipoh and Penang!!!
