Holiday in Singapore (Day 1)

A week ago before my exam week, Lee Keng told me she is coming to Singapore for 3 days with her family during Raya. Since, is my holiday and I got nothing much to do besides rotting in my chamber. I decided to be their tour guide and make myself a tourist at the same time.

They arrived in Singapore early in the morning and only can check in at 12pm. So I took my time and just when she message me and asked me to meet her in Ochard. Rain starts pouring down. But it stop after just 30 minutes, so I got myself ready and head to Ochard.

When I arrived at Ochard, she said will go back to Ochard after check in at a hotel down the road. I was starving that time, so after walking around the food all inside ION Ochard. I got myself Prata Sausage from Go Go Franks.

varieties of sausages...

I chose Beef & Cheese sausage. They wrap it up with lettuce on roti prata with mayo and chili sauce, it comes with a cup of lemon grass lime juice. Typical frozen prata and some frozen sausages with many flavours from supermarket and it cost me SGD4.00 with the drink.

Then I went to Paragon to meet them only to find out they are about to have dim sum for lunch. Because of my paisehn-ness, I decided to go back to ION and find something else to eat. Only to meet up with them again after lunch and go to Sentosa.

So I walked around the food mall again for second time while looking for something good to filled up my stomach. Just yesterday, I watched Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation Asia special at Japan and China from Youtube. He had Takoyaki and I came across a long queue infront of one of the stalls. A corner lot with around 7 people working but only selling one product, Takoyaki. What else? Join the queue of course.

All the stoves been occupied, staffs are sweating, guests are waiting and all because of Takoyaki.

They have 6 balls set with green tea or 10 balls set. But I decided to only have my 6 balls without the drink. SGD4.80 for 6 balls...damn! Good stuff is costly!!!

Remember Anthony Bourdain said, the only words he always hear when the food is being served in Japan is "becareful, its hot" and expecting to suffer from 1st degree burn in your mouth. I have experienced that with these 6 balls. Its painful and suffering, but they are meant to be eaten this way.

while enjoying my balls Takoyaki, I realized something. I was surrounded by Japanese snacks! I mean, Japanese expensive snacks!!!

Tokyo swiss roll, Hokaido Express, Hokaido ice cream, Tokyo crepe and etc...all of them are expensive snacks. It has become a trend here and Kok Hong dont have to worry about finding Japanese food in Singapore next time. They are everywhere!!!

ps: Kok Hong, are these real brand from Japan or they just using the name like Penang Char Kuey Teow or Yew Lik Chee Cheung Fun?

something that you can never find in Malaysia. Entire roasted pig in food court!!!

After eating, of course visit the gents. Been there before and still found it amazing whereby everything inside are automatic.

see the red arrow? hand dryer and paper napkin are located behind the mirror. Guys can take their own sweet time because we can watch TV while peeing.

top of ION and crazy escalators in the mall. Apparently, they have 1 escalator that lead customers directly from first floor to top floor then others are 2 way escalators connecting each floor. Great strategy to bring customers start their shopping from the top to generate more revenue and also conveniene for those who rushing home because car park located at the top.

Its one week away from Singapore Grand Prix, so promo events can be seen everywhere around the island.

Here are some very cool stuff from one of the promo events.

all made by stainless steel!!!

After waited for an hour plus, Lee Keng said they are heading to Vivo City so I have to meet them over there. Because of expensive sms that cost her RM1/ sms, she replied me much later and I already in MRT on my way to Vivo City while she is expecting me to join them on a bus ride.

So, I reach Vivo City and walk around while waiting. After walking through entire Ochard and now in Vivo City, the crowd is similar to Ochard. Where are these people come from??

Mooncake Festival or Mid Autumn Festival (more glamour Singaporean's way) is coming soon, and the mooncakes selling is just the same like Formula One tickets. Therefore promotions and sales is everywhere to sell as many mooncakes as possible.

Then the unusual me suddenly have the urge to find the book store and get some books to read. I am never a reader until I come to Singapore. Singaporeans love to read, so I got influenced.

I found the book I've been looking for quite some time and another one is what I wish it is available in the market. When I saw these 2 books, I was so happy but running out of cash. So I went around the entire building only looking for an OCBC ATM. It was located at the same floor with the book store. =_="

Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential and Waiter Rant by Steve Dublanica or better known as The Waiter.

Anthony Bourdain is a wellknown chef and author and now TV host. I've watched Kitchen Confidential before and wanted to read this book ever since. After watching the show, I wonder, how nice if there is a front of house version. Somehow my wish came true!

A waiter/ blogger then author who wrote about everything in a life of a waiter. As what Anthony Bourdain quoted on the cover page, " the front-of-house version of Kitchen Confidential"

Fun books to read on which related to my industry. =D
check out Steve's website : Waiterrant.net. He still blogging until now!

After waited for an hour in Vivo City. Got a sms from Lee Keng saying there are in Sentosa already. o_O" I waited for 1 hour for them in the building and they "sneak" to Sentosa Island without informing me.

So, I toke the monorail and go to Imbiah Station and meet up with them.

On the way to Sentosa Island, I saw the construction site of Resort World.
6 resorts in progress, casinos and Universal Studio in progress

met them up and snap some photos on my camera while they snap every single things they saw. Typical Pang Lee Keng and is her first time in Singapore, understandable.

The Merlion Walk, I suspects the water are coming from Merlion's bottom...

Then her aunties and grandma didnt join us on the Siloso Beach journey. They settle down at Starbucks while the young ones continue walking.

The main objective is to find the trademark "Siloso" which located at the end of the journey.

So after minutes of walking, finally we reach the end and found the word. They took photos and I enjoy the free Jazz by the Beach performance. If I dont have any curfew, I will spend my entire evening enjoying the jazz performance.

But unfortunately I have and we are all hungry. So we went back to Vivo City and took our dinner at food court. (cheapest we can get) Then we all went back to rest.
