farewell...

today when I was driving to college, news update from hitz.fm....until sports section I was shocked when I heard " Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has retired from professional football due to his long-term knee injury but he will remain as coach in the club"

I don't really watch him play, it is because when I started to watch Man United's matches...he has been suffering with his knee injury. But when ever he played, he will cause opponent problem.

Ole Solskjaer signed for Man United on 29 July 1996 from Molde FC (Norway's club) with several other players but he is the only one who still remain at the club until now. He scored his debut goal just after 6 minutes being sub in against Blackburn Rovers. Solskjaer also being called as "Super-sub" or "Baby-faced assassin" where he have the habit of coming into matches late on and scoring vital goals. One of his best example was coming off the bench and scored 4 goals in final 12 minutes. Man United thrashed Nottingham Forest 8-1.

One of his most crucial goal during his United's career was when he scored the winning goal against Bayern Munich in 90+2 minutes to secure a 2-1 win and helped Man United to win the European Cup as well as winning the famous Treble in 1999.


Man United were losing 1-0 until 89minutes where a corner from Beckham and some poor clearance by Bayern's players Teddy Sheringham to make it 1-1.

few minutes later, Bayern conceded another corner and Beckham will take it. The ball found Sheringham but he head it down and drop in front of Solskjaer. What next??

United won 2-1 and there is no time for Bayern to equalise....

this has made him a firm favorite among the United's fans with song to cheer for him such as "you are my Solskjaer"

you never know dear, how much I love you,
please don't take my Solskjaer away.....

Number 20 is always a Legend in United's heart.

Unfortunately, in year 2003-2004, Solskjaer found himself in and out from the squad due to his knee problem. He is also out for the entire 2004-2005 season with a knee surgery. His "super-sub" role is no longer there and with the arrival of Louis Saha and Wayne Rooney, he found it is difficult to break into the first team. But with his loyalty and faithful, he is always on the team sheet whenever he is fit to play. The "Baby-faced assassin" prove to everyone that he is still plays a vital part in United by 11 goals in last season.

on June 2007, Solskjaer went to a minor knee surgery as he felt discomfort while training with Norway. Although the surgery turn out successfully, but he failed to fully recover and announced his retirement from professional football on 27 August 2007.

Solskjaer has played 366 games and scored 126 goals for Man United. He had won 6 English Premier League, 2 FA Cup, 1 League Cup, 4 Community Shield, 1 Intercontinental Cup and 1 European Cup through out his entire United's career.

His football career will never end as he will continue coaching the in the club. He was also appointed as the club's ambassador. Ole has done things for Manchester United that people only dream about. Hopefully he'll now be able to help others realise their dreams.
